Saint Barthélemy, known as St. Barts or St. Barths, oozes an enchanting mix of European sophistication, relaxed island charm, and plenty of natural beauty. Tourists with blond-sand beaches in mind head to St. Barth, where the scenery is complemented by rolling green hills, and quaint coastal villages, seducing visitors with turquoise waters and coral reefs. Sweden acquired this island in 1785 for 93 years on lease, but as of today, it’s an overseas collectivity of France in the Caribbean. Although St. Barts is predominantly French, you can still feel the vibe of Swedish legacies, especially in the capital of Gustavia. This island country has several boutique hotels and private villas for accommodations.

Saline Beach

Located along the island’s southern coast, relaxed and calm Saline Beach is one of St. Bart’s most charming beaches. For sun junkies, it’s the perfect beach with the most flawless bow of coral sand. This beach has a parking area that leads to a beautiful protected cove. Once you walk up to the dunes, you will be ecstatic to find the teal, cobalt water. However, there is no shade, no beach bar, and no amenities at all. But, you don’t need to worry, just bring your umbrella and enjoy the sun on your body while the pristine sands sift through your toes.

Gustavia

A small harbor town, Gustavia, is a red-roofed capital of St. Bart, which offers plenty of chic boutiques, art galleries lining the streets, and mouth watering cuisines. This lovely capital looks like a U-shape wrapped around the harbor, where tourists drop off by many cruise ships that call here. You can visit the ruins of Fort Gustave, the most important structure built during the Swedish era, or make your way to the lush hill for the magical views of Shell Beach. Moreover, several museums and historical buildings are there, which give insight into the island’s Swedish heritage and history.

St. Jean

In the center of the island, the charming town of St. Jean is one of the most-visited areas, with fantastic restaurants, chic boutiques, and shopping centers. Luxury villas in the vicinity portray picturesque panoramas, as the island’s only airport lies nearby. Tourists must visit the lovely stretch of white sand of St. Jean Beach, a perfect place for swimming and natural coral reefs. Families from nearby St. Maarten’s prefer this location with children. Beaches in St. Jean offer water sports activities, such as snorkeling, surfboarding, and windsurfing. For foodies, there are restaurants along this stretch offering mouthwatering island cuisines.

Corossol

Corossol is a tiny, quaint village sitting along the island’s western shores, which gives a typical Caribbean feel. For those seeking authentic village life in the Caribbean, it’s worth your visit. Locals often refer to this village as “straw village” since many women in the village create straw hats and crafts from palm fronds. You can buy their hats and other crafts to take home for souvenirs. Like many villages in St. Barts, it is home to a fantastic beach that serves as a port for local fishermen. You can visit this port and watch as fishermen bring in their catch.

Colombier Beach (Anse de Colombier)

Colombier Beach is an unspoiled slice of beauty. The soft pristine sand and crystal-clear water make this island worth the effort. This beach is only accessible by boat, and as you get to a goat path, you might be able to see some of the curious animals, such as iguanas and tortoises. Visitors who love secluded and relaxed beaches must visit Colombier Beach. For many years, David Rockefeller owned the property nearby, which locals still called the island “Rockefeller’s Beach”.
