Jasmine Camacho-Quinn beats a stellar field to win the 100 meters hurdles at the 2023 LA Grand Prix!

“The Women do not duck each other.” Said Jasmine Camacho-Quinn after running a world-leading time of 12.31 seconds to win the 100 meters hurdles at the LA Grand Prix. 

Jamine Camacho-Quinn looks more confident and determined to take on the 100 meters hurdles this season as she aims to win her first World Championship Title in Budapest this August. 

But, Do you think that Jasmine Camacho-Quinn can break the 100 meters hurdles World Record this season?  

The women’s 100 meters hurdles continue to be the most competitive event in track and field because the athletes are never afraid to meet regardless of the way they are feeling. 

Over the last decade, every woman who reaches the starting line with the intention of becoming the world’s fastest woman, the likes of the Americans Kendra Harrison, Alaysha Johnson, Nia Ali, Tonea Marshall, Alia Armstrong, and Masai Russel have all been dominant in the event this season. 

Along with World Record holder Tobi Amusan of Nigeria. Caribbean women such as Jamaica’s Megan Tapper, Ackera Nugent, Danielle Williams, Kerrica Hill, and Demisha Roswell have also been consistent this season. 

But Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn has been the most dominant athlete in the event. Camacho-Quinn opened her season with a windy 12.29 seconds to win at the East Coast Relays then went on to the Doha Diamond League to win with 12.48seconds and produced another windy time of 12.17seconds to win at the Bermuda Grand Prix. 

Having been undefeated in the 100 meters hurdles, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn entered the LA Grand Prix as the overwhelming favorite, despite the fastest woman in the event of Tobi Amusan and the second fastest woman Kendra Harrison being there with her. 

The race also featured 2015 World Beijing World Champion Danielle Williams. Jasmine Camcho-Quinn did not let her competitors get the best of her. It was now time for the race and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn got an average start with the rest of the field. 

After the first 30 meters, she quickly separated herself with Kendra Harrison being right there with her. But Camacho-Quinn held her form and crossed the line in a World-Leding time and her third fastest time ever of 12.31 seconds. 

While Kendra Harrison was second in a Season’s Best of 12.35 seconds Tia Jones was third with 12.50 seconds. Jamaica’s Danielle Thomas-Dodd finished sixth with a Season’s Best of 12.59 seconds and World Record holder Tobi Amusan finished last with 12.69 seconds. 

The question we ask at the beginning of this video is, Can Jasmine Camacho-Quinn break the 100 meters hurdles World Record this season?
