Fashion and personal style, which is one of them, is one method to express oneself. Various fashion designers are gaining popularity in Puerto Rico and are quickly becoming household names of designers to watch. At the same time, the country’s capital, San Juan, has produced well-known fashion designers. If you like fashion, get to know the San Juan fashion designers mentioned below.

Lisa Thon

Lisa is of American, Irish, German, and Puerto Rican heritage and was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Thon began her fashion career after finishing high school in the Dominican Republic’s Altos de Chavón and went on to Parsons School of Design in New York City to get her bachelor’s degree. She became the CEO of the Centro Moda School of Design in San Juan in 1996. P.R. Thon is presently the Director of the EDP University of Puerto Rico’s Design Department.

Lisa has dressed singers and actors such as Yolandita Monge, Kany Garca, Melina León, Olga Taón, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar for special events, editorials, magazine covers, CD pictures, and music videos.

Thon made history by being the first Puerto Rican designer to show a collection at the famous New York Fashion Week in 2006. The Comité Noviembre in New York City presented her with the “Puerto Rican Heritage Award.”

Gustavo Arango

Gustavo Arango, who was born in Colombia and reared in Puerto Rico, was drawn to New York City by a desire to study design at F.I.T. He stayed in New York after graduation, working as a fashion designer for Pierre Balmain; three years later, he established his own line. Arango’s attention to detail and use of high-quality fabrics garnered praise from all corners of the business, including Bill Blass, for whom he designed a suit collection. The designer returned to Puerto Rico after his residence was damaged on September 11th. Arango got inspired by the styles of the two radically opposite regions in which he had resided after returning, rather sadly, to his hometown. As a result, his style evolved into a blend of Puerto Rico’s exotic beauty and New York City’s sleek, sophisticated elegance.

Sulyvette Diaz

Sulyvette Diaz’s line was founded in Old San Juan, and she now makes ready-to-wear, couture, and accessory apparel. Diaz is a former fashion merchandising and fashion design student at Miami International University of Art & Design and Turabo University, respectively. She was also featured in Univision’s Revelation Moda, a reality show about fashion. Go to Instagram to see more of her work. Visit her official website to shop her works, which are also available in a few places in San Juan and online.
