With actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as the reggae icon, the movie sports a big cast, with names like Lashana Lynch, Michael Ward, Joe Palladio, and James Norton. The title “One Love” comes from the classic song, which was first recorded by the Wailers back in 1965 and the film takes a broad view of Bob Marley’s whole life.
In Ziggy Marley’s words, Bob Marley’s son and the executive producer, “This film will bring you to witness for the first time what it was like to be around the legend, to see his pain, his sorrows, his joys, and his redemption. You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became?” Authenticity fills the screen as the movie is filmed at the actual places where Bob walked, played football, and sang like Trench Town and Bull Bay in Kingston.
The movie premiered on the 24th of January to a star-studded audience, with attendees such as the Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Merkle.
