Balneario El Escambron is the most charming seashore in San Juan, Puerto Rico, secured by a coral reef with golden sand and amazing scenery with palm trees bringing forth a shaded patch. Escambrón Beach is deemed an excellent beach in Puerto Rico because of crystal clear water, sunbathing, photography, and allowing people with disabilities to have easy access using the ramp. Balneario El Escambron has been awarded Blue Flag for fulfilling all the requirements and selective ecolabel for maintaining water quality, sanitary services, and lifeguards.
We went to this beach because we were on a mission to explore the Old San Juan area. I encountered this beautiful beach which is a short taxi drive from the old city. From my perspective, the beach was fantastic; small and a bit crowded, water was lukewarm and crystal clear best for snorkeling. I saw some people going snorkeling so I decided to follow their path. The water was a bit cloudy but I was able to see through it. I kept swimming and saw lobster, flounder, sea cucumbers and suddenly there were tons of fish and coral reefs. There was also a surf spot nearby parking area and scuba diving was also allowed. Anyone can go and scuba dive there, either you are a beginner, or certified diver, you just need to bring equipment or rent it from locals. As you go down, it’s quite shallow, so you can have more time for your tank, making your scuba diving great. Shower blocks and the bathroom were clean and well-maintained. There were some clean restrooms and outdoor shower facilities. Balneario El Escambrón is considered a family beach where you could relax as your child plays around since the waves are low. Overall a quite unforgettable experience, clean and crystal clear water shining golden sand, which was the best among all beaches I have ever gone to.
